MAKATI CITY, 10 March 2026 – The Credit Information Corporation (CIC) met with KasKasan Buddies (KKB) on 10 March 2026 to explore opportunities for collaboration in promoting credit awareness among Filipinos.

CIC, KasKasan Buddies explore partnership to boost financial literacy, credit awareness

CIC representatives highlighted how the corporation enables risk-based lending, financial consumer empowerment, and inclusion through its robust credit database. They shared that in 2025, 28.2 million CIC credit reports were used by lenders as basis for loan decisions, which was almost thrice the total access the previous year. This shows the growing reliance of financial institutions on CIC data, which enables effective and data-driven risk assessments.

Further, the increasing integration of CIC data into mainstream lending processes nationwide supports responsible lending and borrowing across the financial system. Complementing this, the corporation continues to conduct free CIC Academy webinars where Filipino borrowers are equipped with financial knowledge to empower them to use their credit report as a financial tool. This also helps them better manage their finances and make wiser credit decisions to maintain or improve their borrowing reputation.

The meeting also had a Q&A session where KKB gathered and relayed questions from their Facebook group members. CIC answered the questions and emphasized that credit reports ultimately benefit Filipino consumers by fostering the importance of being creditworthy and responsible borrowing.

This initiative forms part of CIC’s sustained efforts to expand financial literacy outreach and strengthen public understanding of credit information as a key tool for improved access to loans.

The CIC and KKB discussed possible joint initiatives such as financial education campaigns and community engagement activities. These support CIC’s mission of promoting financial literacy, inclusion, and building a healthy credit culture in the country.

KKB is the country’s largest Facebook community group on credit hacks and tips, with over 1.2 million members nationwide.
