MAKATI CITY, 2 June 2026 – The Credit Information Corporation (CIC) invites the public to join its upcoming CIC Academy webinar entitled, “Click, Borrow, Protect: Understanding Online Lending and Data Privacy,” in partnership with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) on June 19, 2026, to help Filipinos borrow more safely online and better protect their personal data from scams, fraud, and misuse.

The session will feature discussions on Republic Act No. 9510 and the role of the Credit Information Corporation, the CIC Credit Report and the rights and responsibilities of borrowers, credit scoring in the age of artificial intelligence, and emerging trends in credit assessment and financial technology in the Philippines.

“Each stage of the online lending process involves the responsible collection, processing, and safeguarding of personal data. It is equally important that borrowers fully understand their rights and responsibilities when sharing information online,” said CIC President and CEO Ben Joshua Baltazar.

PCEO Baltazar emphasized that greater awareness of responsible financial habits, data protection, and credit reporting can help promote a safer and more informed digital lending environment.

The webinar will also feature NPC to discuss the rights and responsibilities of borrowers, the online lending landscape in the Philippines, and the importance of data privacy protection in digital financial transactions.

The National Privacy Commission is the Philippine government agency responsible for enforcing the Data Privacy Act of 2012. It safeguards personal information, regulates how organizations collect and process data, and ensures individuals’ privacy rights are protected in both public and private sectors.
