PARAÑAQUE CITY, 05 June 2026 – The Credit Information Corporation (CIC) earned the Outstanding Technology Implementation for Data Protection award during the National Privacy Commission’s (NPC) Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) Awards 2026, held on 27 May 2026 in Parañaque City. 

Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Undersecretary Atty. Christina Faye Condez-De Sagon presented the award to CIC, with President and CEO (PCEO) Ben Joshua A. Baltazar. 

The award celebrates organizations that leverage technology to protect data effectively and sustainably. CIC emerged as a standout among a distinguished group of finalists from the private sector including Maya Bank, Maxicare Healthcare Corporation, Mynt, Inc., Nestlé Philippines, Inc., Davao Regional Medical Center, and PLDT Inc and Smart Communications Inc. 

“We are honored to accept this accolade from the NPC. This is a testament to CIC’s efforts and a recognition of our unwavering commitment to protect the personal information entrusted to us by millions of Filipinos,” PCEO Baltazar said. 

PCEO Baltazar noted that as the country’s central credit registry and sole repository of credit information, CIC continuously invests in technologies and governance mechanisms that uphold the highest standards of data protection while ensuring proper use.  

“CIC’s mandate under Republic Act No. 9510 to collect and disseminate fair and accurate credit information aligns closely with the NPC’s mission of facilitating the free flow of information while protecting the rights of data subjects,” PCEO Baltazar added. 

In its award submission, CIC highlighted its comprehensive approach to data protection through technology, processes, and people. Key initiatives include database systems, preventive measures, system audits, monitoring tools, employee training programs, and public education initiatives. 

This year’s Privacy Awareness Week carries the theme “ANAMNESIS: Looking Back and Moving Forward,” encouraging organizations and individuals to reflect on the country’s progress in privacy protection in an increasingly digital environment. 

The National Privacy Commission is the country’s independent body mandated to administer and enforce the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and ensure the protection of personal data while promoting innovation and growth in the digital economy.
